BREC Art is excited to pair with other BREC Special Facilities to bring at and other interests together! Participants will have a presentation by Special Facility staff and then create an art project incorporating what they learned.

Art Adventure at Frenchtown Conservation Area
BREC’s Frenchtown Conservation Area, a 495-acre Bottomland Forrest, will introduce us to some orb weaving spiders and spider exoskeletons! After we meet our 8-legged friends we will use mixed media to create webs and spiders to take home to remind us of our special, spider day!

Saturday Morning Studio is a creative program designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of art through a variety of mediums, intentional practice, and conceptual exploration. Each session features a unique, art-inspired project that encourages learning through fun and engaging activities.

This semester’s Saturday Morning Studio will focus on different cultures and intentional creativity. Studio participants will be introduced to the proper use of art mediums, have guided discussions to encourage critical thinking, and be led through the artistic process of creating a unique piece of art based on a specific culture!

Join us for our Ghostie Fest! All ages are invited to hand-build a spooky or cute tea-light ghostie. We will fire and glaze your new ceramic friend, which will be ready for pick-up the following week. All supplies, treats—and maybe a few tricks—provided! Taught by ceramicist Sandy Parfait.

Each participant must be registered.

In this workshop participants will create a Halloween porch sign out of wood and acrylic paint. After a design is chosen, we will sketch our design on the wood and then paint and add the final (fun!) details. If you love Halloween, you will love this workshop

Would you like to learn how to make candles? The best part is that you can start with little to no money, making it a great side hustle. Another great advantage is that candles eventually burn out, so your customers will keep returning for more when they need a new scent.
